is not far from the last place he was seen alive. i'm dan ashley. >> i'm carolyn johnson. crime scene investigators removed possible evidence from the home. 10-year-old kevin collins disappeared february 10th, 1984. he was last seen at a bus stop. it is a block away from today's search. abc7 news broke this story this afternoon at 4:00 with details on the investigation that no one else has. john alston spoke with kevin's mother and brother. >> kevin, colin's mother said the family would have performed some form of closure -- preferred some form of closure. the bones indicate they were from an animal, but a final determination has to be made. police finally left the home after an all day search for the body of kevin collins. the boy's mother getting calls and e-mails of support. >> partly relief it is animal bones. partly sorry it is not closure. especially for my children and my grandchildren. >> only abc7 news was here this morning as san francisco police and the fbi began their search of the basement. a cadaver-sniffing dog detected something in the floor and city crews tore up a po

announce he is under investigation. good evening, everyone. i'm carolyn johnson. >> i'm dan ashley. tonight san francisco police are investigating an allegation of sexual assault involving crabtree. police say the incident happened last sunday morning in a san francisco hotel. he has not been detained or arrested. crabtree is said to be cooperating with police. he joined the team on the trip to atlanta for sunday's nfc championship game, and that's where abc7 news sports reporter mike shumann is live tonight. shu, what bad timing for this bombshell. >> well, dan, there is never good timing for a situation like this. the 49ers arrived 11:15 eastern standard time at the ritz carlton in downtown atlanta. crabtree was on the first bus. he was in the second row. he stood up and then sat back down as about 10 or 15 other players and 49er personnel got off the bus almost trying to distract us. they were trying to make it tough for us to shoot anybody getting off the bus. and then michael walked off the bus. you can see he was escorted by a personnel security man in the red baseball cap. he was the
man the city wants to hire to help fight crime. i'm carolyn johnson. >> i'm dan ashley. cop in los angeles and new now they are deciding whether they should hire him as a police consultant. alan wang is now live. he is certainly continue controversial. >> yes, the council addressing this an hour ago. but they had 150 speakers and they are prepared to go until 2:00 a.m. the council will be voting on whether or not to hire an over all -- an over all police consulting team that includes william bratten. about 20 police officers were called in to deal with a large group of people who do not want the city to hire high-profile police consultant. his zero tolerance police strategies have been controversial in other cities where he has worked. they say it gives officers too much discretion and leads to racial profiling and harassment. one man said his recent experience is typical. >> a police officer told me why am i sitting on my neighbor's stairs? i said because this is my neighbor's stairs. >> they left leaving a contingent of 10 local pastors to appeal to the hiring of bratton. >> i su

off to new orleans for super bowl 47. good evening, everybody, i'm larry beil. >> and i'm carolyn johnson. if you've ever dined in san francisco you've notice a health care surcharge. the question is whether the money is going to employee health care or lining pockets of some restaurant yorns. mark? >> we're on columbus avenue. a street famous for the restaurants. some of whom have been adding this surcharge to the bill. today, the city attorney said five million dollars from the year 2011 has gone missing. city attorney says restaurants are required to report how much they've collected and spent a few of them appear to be cheating. >> they imposed surcharges on customers to cover costs with the universal health care law but used little or none of the funds to provide benefits to employee autos the surcharge appears on some restaurant bills. john says

'm carolyn johnson.crime scs removed possible evidence from the home. 10-year-old kevin collins disappeared february 10th, 1984. he was last seen at a bus stop. it is a block away from today's search. abc7 news broke this story this afternoon at 4:00 with details on the investigation that no one else has. john alston spoke with kevin's mother and brother. >> kevin, colin's mother said the family would have performed some form of closure -- preferred some form of closure. the bones indicate they were from an animal, but a final determination has to be made. police finally left the home after an all day search for the body of kevin collins. the boy's mother getting calls and e-mails of support. >> partly relief it is animal bones. partly sorry it is not closure. especially for my children and my grandchildren. >> only abc7 news was here this morning as san francisco police and the fbi began their search of the basement. a cadaver-sniffing dog detected something in the floor and city crews tore up a portion of the concrete discovering some bones. sources with knowledge of the investigation tel
are refusing to give up hope 24 years after she vanished. i'm carolyn johnson. >> and i'm dan ashley. the case remains an active investigation after all of these years. he was last seen on this date in 1989 on her way to an ice skating lesson in dublin. s and he is live withh her with the latest on the case. john? >> reporter: dan, eileen was last seen here on san ramon road. her family and her supporters walked by here in an annual ritual to keep this case alive. for the 24th year they made this walk through dublin and leading more than a hundred supporters. >> the turnout is amazing. i always worry there won't be anybody here and we have had a marvelous and an amazing turnout. >> i just hope this all leads to some information that might come out about eileen. >> reporter: eileen was 13 when she vanished while walking home from wells middle school on her way home from ice skating practice. that was january 30th, 1989. a missing children website has photos of what she might look like as an adult. tonight the procession went along the route she was thought to have followed when she vanished. in
